Picture 443 | Nothing but a Pinhole...

OOOHHHHHHHH HHHHIIIIIII!!!
How have things been?!!?
…………
IT DOESN’T MATTER HOW YOU’VE BEEN!!!

Sorry, I channeled The Rock for a second there.
Are things ok?
Are you ok?
I’m not, but that doesn't matter.
Go eat some cookies and maybe you’ll feel better.
Life is getting stress full right now.
The good kind of stress.
…………. There’s good stress?
I guess so!
Things are wrapping up in the classes.
We are getting into the last two weeks.
THIS IS IT!!!
THE END!!!
I see it!
So, I’m freaking out with the bad stress.
WHAT IF I FAIL AT THE LAST SECOND?!?!?
I BOMB THE FINALS?!?!??
DID I!??!!
AM I?!?!?
KNDGNUFIIGJFGKLDFJGIOERTHGJHTF
It’s over.
I’m dead.
………………………
…………….
………

.
So there’s that stress.
And then there’s the good stress.
After class, I’m free!
I CAN FINALLY DO THINGS!!!
And that is stressful as well.
What to do?
Where am I going?
WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD?!?!
But it’s more of a healthy pondering than a worrying stress.
Maybe more nervous.
I’m losing my train of thought.
I hope you get the point.
It’s the stress of finally going out on my own.
But that’s a good thing that needs to happen.
Anyways, things are happening.
I do know my future!
Ok, here’s a sneak peek into the job updates.
Right now, I’m still editing part two.
I just don’t have the time right now.
If you forgot, part one was about me getting the job.
Part two is my first weeks doing the job.
Part three is about my next step inside the job doing video work.
All those parts are filmed and ready to edit.
But life isn’t stopping!
 I HAVE STARTED PART FOUR!
It’s the big one.
Everything in all the other parts are culminating in part four.
Everything that I’ve worked for has come to this moment.
……………………
The day I finally leave this place!
That’s all I’m going to say.
The details aren’t final.
But things are happening.
Anyways, that’s enough about me!
ONTO THE PICTURE!!
….. that’s about me.
This is the return of the Pinhole Project!!
I’ve been wanting to revisit the pinhole and the VHS cameras and do an entire video exclusively with said cameras.
The first parts had me talking about the cameras and showing what they are.
So, it was a mix of normal video and videos from the cameras.
This time around, the ENTIRE video is shot through the pinhole.
Same thing with the next VHS project….
…….when I get time to finish it…
So, this photo and making-of video were shot with the pinhole that was made for my Fine Art class.
The POINT of the PINhole project was to bring us back to the ye ole days when cameras were first created.
Back then, they were just a box with a hole that had photo paper inside.
That’s basically what we created, but we used a digital camera instead.
I always wanted to give the pinhole a try again.
It’s fascinating to me to essentially go back in time in a modernly sophisticated kind of way.
And since this isn’t tied to a project, I had more fun.
Here are some other photos that I uploaded…

It was a blast!
I love the look and feel that the pinhole gives off.
The way the light blooms is just purrdy to me.
So, I wanted to focus on that more for the photo that I wanted to shoot.
It took a few days of waiting.
There were many cloudy days.
But eventually a sun day arrived and I seized the opportunity.
I already walked through the park and found the spot I wanted to shoot back when I shot those original test photos.
Once I got there, it took me a few tries to find the photo that I wanted.
I played around with the amount of bloom from the hotspots, how transparent I should be, so on so forth.
I eventually got to the photo you see up top.
It was the only photo that day that made me actually say “WOW!!!”
For the post editing, I didn’t want to do anything too drastic.
I wanted to keep the overall pinhole look and feel.
I really just increased saturation and cropped out a tree.
COMPARE!!
Hover your mouse (the computer one :-P) over the original picture to see the after editing one.
If you're on a touchscreen device, just tap on the picture. You may have to tap more than once.

That compared the cropping that I did.
I saw that tree before I shot the photo and I left it in.
I had a reason in my head at the time.....
hmmm......
Well, I hate it now and changed my mind.
Now compare the Photoshop editing, which was adding saturation and taking out the dots.
Those dots are actually dust particles on my sensor.
I should get it cleaned!

LOVELY!
Just what I wanted.
Now try the Image Slider for a split comparison.
CLICK and DRAG the BLUE BAR around to get our own split image.
Or, you can use these presets.
Before FULL, After FULL, 50/50, Before a QUARTER, or After a QUARTER.
Before
After
Awesome!
OH! Before I forget.
This wasn't the only photo that I shot.
I was torn between three photos.
I even had to call in the troops, being my Aunt and my Aunt's Aunt, help me decide.
But I decided to go with my gut and pick the one that made me go "WOW!!!"
Which was also their pick as well, so we all win.
Except for my Aunt's Aunt, I think she picked the second photo that's shown below.
...Sorry Aunt's Aunt...
Here are the other ones...

Ok, now to the video.
As I said, the video is shot exclusively with the pinhole.
So, it’s a dark and grainy video.
ENJOY!!
You can CLICK HERE to see the video or watch it below.

What’s after this?
Well, I’m focusing on my classes right now.
I’ll see if I do anything for Christmas.
I might.
The contest stuff is approaching as well.
Many things are happening.
I’ll probably just wait until things settle down and see what I can work with.
Stay tuned!
