Picture 441... | Nothing but a phone...

OH!
HI!
I vanished for a month.
I tend to do that.

I’ve just been busy going through life.
Working on college things…
Working on work things…
Working….
Things are going well.
Nothing exciting enough to make a photo.
However, I wanted to do something since it’s has been a month since I did anything.
I was going to share the Job Update Part 2, since I just recently moved into part 3.
But that video is 8 hours unedited and I don’t want to deal with it yet.
That’s the same reason I vanished for 3 months.
I got stuck on a long video and I didn’t want to deal with it.
Long story short, part 2 is in editing limbo.
I was also working on the VHS2 and Pinhole2 projects.
I wasn’t able to finish them at my Aunt’s house and so they went into limbo.
I have all these projects I’m working on that are all clogging either other up.
So, I decided to push all that aside for a second and do something new.
At least get something out there.
I also like to give myself challenges.
Black and white challenge, selective color challenge, so on.
A little bit ago, I did a challenge where I shot and edited a photo using only my iPad.
I like using the various cameras that I have.
I recently added a new camera to the list with I got a cell phone.
So I thought…. “OH! A photo only shot and edited on the phone!”
But then I took it a step further…
My phone can do 4K super HD video.
I was like…. “I COULD SHOOT THE PHOTO AND THE BTS VIDEO USING ONLY THE PHONE AND UPLOAD IT ALL IN 4K SUPER HD!!!”
So, that’s what I did.
I needed an idea though.
I looked around and I saw the light was hitting out back fence nicely.
I’ve always had an idea with that fence and this could be the time to do it.
With the right light, it’ll cast some nice shadows on my face.
I went with that.
The hardest part was getting my phone on a tripod and figuring out where to stand.
I didn’t have a monitor adapter, so I was blind.
I didn’t want to zoom with the phone camera.
It doesn’t have optical zoom like the newer phones.
It’s digital zoom with essentially cropped inward on the photo.
So, things end pixelated.
Sadly, I needed some zoom to really get in on my face.
I wasn’t happy about it.
You can tell in the photo, it looks like it was shot on a camera from 2006.
Oh well, I was hoping the editing would fix it.
I knew it was going to be black and white from the beginning.
High contrast… black and white.
That wasn’t that hard to achieve.
Overall, I’m happy with it.
I still might reshoot this with a better camera.
I can’t get over that pixelation!
COMPARE!!
Hover your mouse (the computer one :-P) over the original picture to see the after editing one.
If you're on a touchscreen device, just tap on the picture. You may have to tap more than once.

That compared the cropping, now compare the editing.

LOVELY!
Let's try the Image Slider for a split comparison.
CLICK and DRAG the BLUE BAR around to get our own split image.
Or, you can use these presets.
Before FULL, After FULL, 50/50, Before a QUARTER, or After a QUARTER.
Before
After
Ok, the video.
There’s nothing really to this video.
It’s all shot on my phone.
Most of the videos are 4K and some aren’t.
I recommend not watching it in 4K.
Most phones won’t let you and it takes a beefy computer and internet connection.
My computer was dying trying to get this edited.
Anyways, you can CLICK HERE to see the video or watch it below.

That’s it!
I’m going to vanish for another month.
I’m running off to my Aunt’s until the 22nd…. OF OCTOBER!!
While I’m there, I’ll finish editing the Job Update2, and I’ll also finish filming VHS2 and Pinhole2.
Many part 2 videos to come.
I might pop up from my hiding hole in the middle of October.
It’ll be the 10th year anniversary of me starting my photo journey.
I want to do something special, but my Aunt’s internet is atrocious!
I won’t be able to upload anything.
We’ll see what I can do.
SEE YOU THEN!!!
