GOOD AFTERNOON!
How’s the world?
I stopped keeping track of what’s going on in the world because I kept getting disappointed by society.
Well, that’s a good way to start off the post….
I should stop now before things get out of hand.
What’s new with me?
Now that things are getting back to normal after the meltdown, I’ve just been working on things!
I got the next video organized and ready to go!
I’m working ahead!
Hmmmm, what else…..
I’m getting some sort of financial aid this Summer!
So, I’m not completely poor!
Speaking of Summer, the class started today.
The instructor wants me to come in sometime.
It’s a portfolio class and we’ll set up a portfolio plan.
Then, over the course of the eight weeks, I work through that plan.
I’m looking at what the assignments are going to be, and I can already tell…
I’m going to hate this class.
Hate it with a passion.
It’s all the business side of things.
I hate that stuff.
I know that photographers make their own businesses, so I’ll have to do this stuff eventually.
I still would have hated it then!
At least this is in a college setting and where I can ask questions and work out the issues.
BUT THE WORST PART…..OUT OF EVERYTHING…..
THERE ARE DISCUSSION POSTS…..
When we make a business logo or a card, we have to post it there and get critiqued!
AND I HAVE TO CRITIQUE OTHER PEOPLE!
I hate it!!
I HATE THE WORLD!!
I HATE EVERYONE!!

I’m ok.
I think that’s enough about that… SUBJECT CHANGE!
This week’s post was a fun experience.
I’ll just have to try to remember how it was because… this happened back in September!
This was for the Fine Art class that I took in the Fall of 2017.
A part of the class was getting experience with a LEGIT CAMERA!
During this time is when my photo instructor got really happy.
See, this is what he does.
He uses these cameras EXCLUSIVELY!!
In fact, he uses a bigger camera.
The one I had was a medium format camera, a 4x6.
He uses an 8x10!
I saw it during the summer field trips.
IT’S HUGE!
So, he was excited to finally show us why he only uses a big box camera and black and white film.
And I can see why he enjoys it.
With this camera, you don’t move quickly.
You’re forced to plan things out.
You focus more with this camera.
Look at the light, adjust your settings, maybe even improvise.
I had too.
Clouds kept blocking the sun that I needed and so I just re-adjusted for the clouds and shoot it anyways!
And then it’s the waiting and anticipation, wondering if it’ll turn out.
AND LASTLY! The developing process.
Overall, you put so much work into one photo and it’s so rewarding win it pays off and you have a good shot.
That’s why my instructor does what he does!
I got to go through all that and it was a good experience!
I’ve always love film, even in high school.
We hand developed film and I loved it!
This was even better!
I wish I had the money for a camera like that…. and the money for the film…. and the money to develop it….
Maybe someday!
Anyways! This photo for this week was simple.
I snapped a selfie with the camera!
I did go crazy with the coloring part because I used the GoPro.
I wanted the picture to POP!
COMPARE!!!

COMPARE!!!
Hover your mouse (the computer one :-P) over the original picture to see the after editing one.
If you're on a touchscreen device, just tap on the picture. You may have to tap more than once.
That was just the cropping, now compare the actual changes!!!
LOVELY!!
Let's try the Image Slider for a split comparison.
CLICK and DRAG the BLUE BAR around to get our own split image.
Or, you can use these presets.
Before FULL, After FULL, 50/50, Before a QUARTER, or After a QUARTER.
ONTO THE VIDEO!!!
This video is old….
Well, the videos in the video are old.
I edited the whole thing last week, but the videos were shoot…. EIGHT MONTHS AGO!!!
This video is the reason why I disappeared for the first three months.
It was EIGHT HOURS UNEDITED!!!!!
That’s why I vanished, I got stuck editing it!
But now after the contest videos, I have a new mindset on what I include in the videos.
Less rambling and more photos!
So, with my new attitude, I got back into working on this video.
Actually, I didn’t just continue editing it…
… I threw everything out and re-edited the entire thing.
I finally upgraded to Premiere Pro.
I tried before, and it wasn’t working right.
But I made it work this time.
I flew through the video editing.
I was deleting things left and right.
It was all old news anyways!
The first editing pass was done a week ago.
Then over the course of another week, I kept going through over and over.
I got the 8 hours down to 35 minutes.
Which is still long, but a lot of the video has to do with the subject matter itself.
If the actual making of the photo takes an hour, then that video will be an hour.
My issue was that my videos were an hour long because of other things that weren’t photo related.
So, less ramble, more pictures!
BUT THEN!!.... THEN!!!!!!!!
After all that, I even went through and color corrected a lot of videos.
Pretty much any outdoor scene I increased saturation and messed with the brightness.
Like what I do for my photos!!
So, there’s a lot of saturation throughout the video.
The outdoor scenes really POP!
ENOUGH TALK!!!
WATCH THE VIDEO!!
You can CLICK HERE to see the video or watch it below.
OK! That’s it.
I already have the next video edited!
Like I said, I got caught up!
I know I ranted about cutting out a lot over the rambling that I do in my videos.
Well, I’m pushing that rule aside for the next video.
It’s going to have all the videos I’ve made after the contest and it’ll go to current times.
So, from February to May.
Then after that, we can move on to new things!
We’ll no longer be in the past!
I’LL SEE YOU… sometime…
A week or two…
Probably two…
