Picture 421...

Alright! This is the start of my Summer School series.
I signed up for a Summer Field Photography class.
Every Thursday, we’ll go somewhere interesting and get some photos.
It’s simple!

This blog post isn’t going to be that long because there isn't that much to talk about.
I would ramble about my week, but that’s not what this post is about.
For the first trip, we went to Starved Rock State Park.
Map
It was a lovely place.
There were HUGE cliffs and waterfalls.
And also a few caves…as you can see in the picture!
It was pretty cool.
I was kind of “anti-social” person and didn’t really talk to people as usual.
Once there was a chance to break away, I did!
There was a lot of walking most of the time.
I had almost 15,000 steps!
We’d walk to one location and stop for a little bit for us to get some pictures.
Then, we move on to the next place.
That’s all we did.
It doesn’t sound that exciting.
The only interesting thing is that it was hot.
I kind of wanted to ramble on about the trip.
But now that I look back….. we really didn’t do that much.
And that was our goal.
We were there to take pictures.
Nothing else.
I did get some interesting pictures.
I need to look through them again and make sure there are ten good ones.
We have to get ten pictures from each location.
Anyways, I was able to get enough alone time to make a good picture for this week.
I might not get that chance again and next week’s picture will probably be a GoPro selfie.
The picture was easy to make.
I just walked into the best spot and pushed the button on the remote.
The coloring was just as simple.
I didn’t want to go overboard.
I wanted it to look like how it looked in real life.
So, I just increased the saturation and contrast a bit.
Nothing extreme.
COMPARE!
Hover your mouse (the computer one :-P) over the original picture to see the after editing one.
If you're on a touchscreen device, just tap on the picture. You may have to tap more than once.

Let's try the Image Slider for a split comparison.
CLICK and DRAG the BLUE BAR around to get our own split image.
Or, you can use these presets.
Before FULL, After FULL, 50/50, Before a QUARTER, or After a QUARTER.
Before
After
The video is actually just about the trip.
Even though the video it’s 36 minutes long, it’s all about the trip.
I recorded a lot more videos than I thought and I didn’t cut anything out.
I barely even edited the clips themselves.
I left it 100% how I recorded it.
There is about ten-minute clip at the end of me editing the picture and talking about the next place.
You can CLICK HERE to see the video or watch it below.

OK, THAT’S ALL!
We go to Millennium Park in Chicago next!
SEE YOU NEXT WEEK!
