Picture 416 | The Update...

Soooooooo……
It’s been a while!
I said last time that this post was going to be a big update post…. Thing.
Detailing what has been going on for the past week or two…… or three.
I’ve just been so busy!

All of which is covered in the video for this week….
Which was supposed to be the final video for the contest this year…..
…..which should the awards I got.
WHICH….. you can see in the picture above.
Since I’m on the topic of the contest, it’s been over for a while.
I think I said that.
You can see the awards I got!
I won third and honorable mention first, then the people voted and I won the People’s Choice Award.
I was actually quite surprised.
The first year I went in all bold and thought I would win.
…..and I didn’t.
So, the next year I went in thinking I would lose…
And I won…..
This year, I let that get into my head and thought I would do better, but not as good.
I was in between.
And the results that came back were….
In between.
Isn’t it just fascinating?
It’s interesting when you look at things and see the patterns.
Anyways, that’s really how I feel about that.
I’m happy with how things turned out, but I was hoping for more.
We had some good pictures this year.
OH WELL…
There’s always next year.
Next year is also the final year.
At least… that’s the plan.
My Aunt believes that the contest is an “amateur” contest.
And with all the school experience that I’ll have by that time, I won’t qualify as an… “amateur”.
So, I’m pretty sure it’ll be my final year.
That means we have to try extra... EXTRA hard.
Plus, we are going to do all black and white.
I don’t think I told my Aunt that.
I’m sure she just read that.
Now she knows.
We have to get the Best Black and White award.
IT’S THE ONLY WAY!
We need that and second place.
I’ll be happy with those.
I would say the Best of Show award as well….
….but I don’t want to get my hopes up.
MOVING ON!!
This post is 2 and half weeks late.
WHAT HAVE I BEEN UP TOO?
………..Sleeping….
Eating….
Going to school….
Repeat for the next year.
Things have been getting a little crazy here recently.
There were a lot of projects due and I got behind.
Luckily, I’m caught back up now…. Sort of…
The online class that is suffering is my online class.
I KEEP FORGETTING ABOUT IT.
It’s the replies to the discussion posts.
I’d get distracted with family or other school things.
Plus, I have to do sooooooo many replies!
In my other classes, it was “Pick two and reply”, but in this class…..
…… the teacher wants us to reply to everyone!
I HAVE TO THINK OF 12 DIFFERENT REPLIES!!
It’s a bit extreme, but it is what it is.
My other classes are doing fine.
Typography is the only one taking up my time.
I think I talk about one of the projects in the video.
Type is a complicated thing!
ANYWAYS…. That’s it for school.
WAIT!! I forgot to mention the thing next to the photo awards.
That is the letter from the school saying that I was on the Dean’s List.
Which means I got all A’s and B’s.
I…… was surprised.
I guess I’m smarter than I think I am.
Hopefully, I can get another one this semester.
I’m not too confident, though.
Moving on, I did mention the family things.
The kids are still being kids….
OH! That reminds me of the father of the kids.
My brother has decided to get into the YouTube business.
So, I’ve been helping him with that!
It took a bit of planning for his videos.
They had to be…. “professional”.
And he wanted it a certain way.
He wanted to do everything himself.
Which is good!
All I had to do is start and stop the camera and make sure he’s in frame.
However, the set he had in mind wasn’t working.
He wanted a PowerPoint to be playing in the background on a tv while he was talking.
It was the easiest way of doing things.
But the camera didn’t like that.
That’s where I stepped in.
We went with screen capturing the PowerPoint on my computer as he scrolled through it.
He didn’t want to do that because it required more editing.
Which means he would need my help.
He couldn’t do it alone… OH WELL.
He’s starting to like the way the videos look anyways.
So… I WIN.
We didn’t use my fancy cameras to record him talking.
We used his camera, which just so happened to be the Zoom Cam.
We have the same cameras.
The Zoom Cam only does half HD.
And the screen capture is recording at half HD.
So, it didn’t matter if the video was as well.
Once we got everything working and settled in, we started tearing through videos.
He’s got everything planned out and he wanted to get a jump start of the videos.
So, we pre-filmed most of them.
We’d record everything is one take…
Then take the video off the camera and put it with the screen capture video in the editing program.
I’d sync the audio up and then start editing.
Whenever he’s reading the PowerPoint, we cut to that.
When he’s not, we cut to him.
SIMPLE.
Once it was edited, we’d send it to the other computer to render.
THAT REMINDS ME!!!
I had my laptop and the desktop computer hooked to a server.
But then…. It stopped working.
So, I had to use OneDrive to do everything.
That means I had to wait or the files to upload and then download.
With the old server, it happened instantly.
I could get any file from any computer while using any computer.
Did that make sense?
I missed being able to do that.
So, I tried setting up the server again.
………….AND IT WORKED!!!
I’m so happy!
That how we were able to use the desktop to render the videos.
We’d edit them on my computer, all the files are instantly transferred, we’d load it up on the other computer and start rendering it.
SIMPLE!!
And while that one was rendering we’d start working on the next video using my computer.
We also used the desktop to upload the videos once they were done rendering.
WE WERE MULTITASKING!!!!
It’s fun.
I’m having a wonder time!
However, there’s been some not so wonderful times…
There’s been some…interesting things going on with the Grandparents.
Some things happened and we need to fix it.
That involves making their house more suitable for living.
We are planning on moving the washer and dry upstarts and what not.
Things like that.
The place also needs a good cleaning spree.
My grandfather has lung issues, so the place needs a good dusting to get some cleaner air.
That’s all I’m going to say about that situation.
There is A LOT more that I’m not going to talk about just yet.
Maybe when everything is done and solved.
ALRIGHT!!!
Let’s see, I talked about SOME of the family stuff…
I talked about school…
I talked about the contest….
……
I think that’s it.
Should I talk about myself?
……………………………………………………….
……………………………………..
……………………
……..

.
I’m fine.
I haven’t slept in three weeks.
But, I’m fine.
……………
Ok, I’m kidding!
……….
I haven’t slept in two weeks.
ONTO THE PICTURE!
This picture didn’t need that much effort to make.
Set the camera up…. Push the button.
I didn't do much in the edited phase either.
I brightened it up and made the over temperature warmer.
That’s it!
COMPARE!!!
Hover your mouse (the computer one :-P) over the original picture to see the after editing one.
If you're on a touchscreen device, just tap on the picture. You may have to tap more than once.

AMAZING!!
Just what I wanted!
Let's try the Image Slider.
Here's how it works...
There's a blue bar in the middle of the picture.
That's the slider.
The slider will disappear when you move your mouse off of the image.
I did that so you can really see the split.
But, it'll come back when you hover over it again.
You can CLICK on it and DRAG it around to get our own split image.
Or, you can use these presets.
Before FULL, After FULL, 50/50, Before a QUARTER, or After a QUARTER.
Before
After
Alright, now the video is literally about everything I just typed.
It covers all the topics in video form!
It doesn’t have a making of the picture part because the picture was too easy to make.
Plus, I wanted to focus on what the picture was about than how I made it.
It does have little bonus part that I didn't talk about.
THE VIDEO IS 48 MINUTES LONG!
Like of it as a little update video about my life
You can CLICK HERE to see the video or watch it below.

OK!!!
OOOKKKK!!!
That’s it!
I told you this post was going to be BIG!
Thanks for reading if you and COME BACK NEXT WEEK!!!
Everything should go back to normal after this.
….hopefully.
