SO!!!!!
How's life?
Have you died recently?
Please contact your doctor if your death lasts more than four hours.
I'm pretty sure I've died!
…...TWICE!
Last week, I said one of the reasons I took a break was because my brain was fried.
I was getting overwhelmed with school and what not.
Well, that's over.....for now.
"Being Overwhelmed Part Two" is on the way.
There's a lot of things due on the 2nd and midterms are getting close!
ANYWAYS!! One of the other reasons for the break was that I just felt..... blah.
I was stuck in the same routine.
Get up... go to school... come home.... do homework... try to remember to eat at some point.
It was how I felt before school started and one of the reasons I wanted to go.
I wanted something new.
But what can I do now?
This schedule is going to stay the same for a while.
What do I do... to have something be new?
It could be anything!
A new way of doing things.
Something new.
I decided that my room should be the target.
It has been the same since the dawn of time.
So, I took it upon myself to rearrange my whole room.
It took a bit of planning, though.
I wanted to get more out of it.
I liked the way I had it before, but the space was actually smaller.
With all the junk I have, the corner to the right was all full of stuff.
And then the corner in front of my dresser that full of clothes that I was too lazy to put away.
And all my backpack and what not.
I really was only using a little space.
See, here's I map.... sort of...
The red areas are where I can’t go, or where I don’t go.
I already started the process when I realized I didn’t get a picture for the before and after.
The other thing was that desk.
It was so cluttered.
I just cleverly hide it behind the TV.
And the drawers were full.
Drawers? Is that right?
That's how Siri autocorrected me.
I'll go with it......
…....... FOCUS
That's what I really wanted to change.
That desk.
That's where I work most of the day.
But changing that meant changing the whole room.
Plus, I wanted to get more out of the room space.
So, the plan...
More desk space...
More space in the whole bedroom.
That's all I wanted and that’s what I achieved!
Check it out!
It’s hard to tell, but I really do have more space now.
BOOM! It’s perfect.
I found an old storage thing in the basement.
That allowed me to put some of the things that were behind the TV, over there.
Thus, allowing me to move the TV back again the wall.
And that allows me to use it as a monitor!
So, I can multitask and have two screens!
Overall, I like it.
I work much faster now!
You can see a proper video about it the update video at the end of the month……
Which is two days away……
Hmmm
Time flies!
I’m already half way done with school…..
Almost.
And it’s just the first semester.
So, I’m halfway through the first quarter of my college path.
EXCITING!!
Things are going along just fine.
Yes, things get hard.
But it’ll all get better in the end.
Give up now would mean giving up on what I love to do!
This blog is a result of what I love.
I went to my Aunt’s house last Friday.
We were talking about school and other things.
Somehow, we got on the topic of web design and I rambled on about the inner workings of da blog.
All the features and what not.
Basically, confirming that I know what I’m doing.
She asked if I could understand the code.
And I do……. Sort of.
I can’t just out of the blue create something.
I use free code websites to get me started.
I take that code and look it over.
I understand enough to actually do modifications to the code to better suit what I need.
So, I was showing her what the code originally looked like and what I turned it into.
That lead us to find… something new.
It was an image zoomer… thing.
These zoom controls would appear in an image and you can zoom into it.
She says, “Oh, that would look good inside the picture you put at the top of all your posts.”
……………………………………………………………….
YOUR RIGHT!
It would.
So…. That’s what I did.
If you didn’t see it, go back up and look.
Here’s where the modifications come in.
The original had the buttons on the bottom right and they were just +&- with a white color.
I moved them to the top and made them my blog colors.
THEN! I added the reset button in the middle.
AND THEN!!! I played with the code.
There was a feature that when you double clicked on any of the buttons, it would reset the zoom.
I put in a reset button so… I didn’t need that.
Instead, I made it open the FULL QUALITY image in a new tab when you double-click anywhere in the image.
Before, you’d just click on the image and it’ll open the HD one.
Back I lost that ability with the zoom stuff.
So, that was my way of bringing it back.
AND THEN!!!!!! I added the ?.
Even that’s been through some changes.
I wanted a way to tell you the controls.
Before, I just had it pop up a default alert that told them to you.
But then I found a code for custom tooltips.
I liked the way it looked.
So, I looked into getting that into the ?.
I managed to incorporate the two codes into one!
Everything is all together and it all still works!
It worked!!
Lastly, I had to get it onto the blog.
That’s where the delay comes in.
I usually post on Wednesdays.
However, I when I put this onto the blog… other things had some issues.
So, I worked on fixing that.
ANYWAYS!! I had to get it on the blog in a way that had me barely do any work.
As in, all I have to do is put in the source link for the new picture and that’s it.
AND have it still work for every other picture that will come before.
Which means I can’t be putting links in the main code because that’ll change every picture.
Like “double click for the HD image” thing.
I had it embedded into the code itself.
The main JS code.
So, for next week’s picture, it would load the HD version of this week’s picture.
Instead of the one for next week.
And if I change it in the code to load next week’s HD picture, this week’s picture would load next week’s HD picture.
It’s confusing.
I needed a way to change the picture every week and have it not affect the past weeks.
So, I added a piece of code in the post itself.
The main code is hidden at the bottom of the blog.
In each post, there will be a little piece of code that’ll let me set the HD picture for each week.
That means, all I have to do is just put in the HD picture link and be done.
I do the same for all the other features on the blog as well.
To sum everything up, I added a new photo zoom thing at the top of the site.
It was a pain to get it to work, but it’s done.
There’s still some things to do.
We’ll see.
It needs a name.
We already have the Image Hover Comparison and the Image Slider Comparison.
Hmmmmmmmmm………..
The Image Zoomer….
The Image Zoom Comparison….
The Image Inspector…..
Zoombot…
Zoom……
The…….
……
I don’t know.
Onto the picture!
In the last post, I mentioned I went to my Aunt’s house to work on school stuff.
I’ve been to my Aunt’s place a lot recently. :-)
This would have been two weeks ago.
While I was there, we went to a park to take a break from the school things.
That’s where this picture comes from!
Think of this as a preview for the Park videos that will come next year.
We walked by a corn field and that it would be a cool idea to get a picture from inside the corn.
So…… that’s what I did!
Simple.
The coloring…. Not so much.
I was stuck between black and white… or color.
I decided to go with black and white because I haven’t done one in a while.
But what kind of black and white.
Dark and gritty, or just black and white…
It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do.
I went with the dark one.
I added a BOATLOAD of contrast, but not too much clarity.
I wanted it to look smooth, not grainy with sharp edges.
In the end, I like how it came out.
I even consulted the family to see if that liked it, and they did.
I’m happy!
COMPARE!!

COMPARE!!
Hover your mouse (the computer one :-P) over the original picture to see the after editing one.
If you're on a touchscreen device, just tap on the picture. You may have to tap more than once.
AMAZING!!
Just what I wanted!
Let's try the Image Slider.
Here's how it works...
There's a blue bar in the middle of the picture.
That's the slider.
The slider will disappear when you move your mouse off of the image.
I did that so you can really see the split.
But, it'll come back when you hover over it again.
You can CLICK on it and DRAG it around to get our own split image.
Or, you can use these presets.
Before FULL, After FULL, 50/50, Before a QUARTER, or After a QUARTER.
ONTO THE VIDEO!
Now, this week has been about change.
I wanted to change the way I do BTS videos.
Last week was ridiculous.
AN HOUR LONG VIDEO!
And most of that wasn’t even related to the picture of that week.
So, I’m putting my foot down.
If it doesn’t involve the picture… IT’S OUT!
I have the Monthly Update at the end of the month for that extra videos.
Now, here’s the exceptions…
I will include a little bit of extra things that are about my week.
Usually, the events and feelings I experience in the week influence the picture.
So, I’ll include a little five-minute update about my week.
Then BOOM! Into the picture making.
Now, this new style doesn’t mean videos will be short.
Like, this week’s video.
It’s 41 minutes long….
One reason is because I talk about all the changes that I just typed about.
But the key reason is because the picture-making was long.
We went to the park to take pictures so, that’s the BTS video.
I just took a lot of videos and pictures.
So, if the picture making process is long, the video will be long.
Get what I’m saying?
Ok.
You can CLICK HERE to see the video or watch it below.
ALRIGHT!
That’s it.
I don’t know what next week holds.
I’ll put the new video production style into action.
So, the video might actually be about the picture!
COME BACK NEXT WEEK!!!
